DJI releases new Upgraded Phantom 2 Bundle & Parts

DJI has posted the upgraded DJI Phantom 2 available for purchase. Below the links for the the Bundle and individual items: For a deeper look at the upgraded Parts read this. Upgraded DJI Phantom 2 with Zenmuse H3-3D Gimbal (Includes Phantom 2, H3-3D Gimbal and comes with all upgraded parts: Remote, Motors, ESC’s, Compass) Upgraded DJI Phantom 2 Remote Control/Transmitter (2.4GHz version for normal non-Vision Phantom 2) Upgraded DJI Phantom 2 Vision/Vision+ Remote Control (5.8GHz version for all Vision models) Upgraded Thrust Boosted Propellers (for all DJI Phantom 2 models) New Features: Upgraded DJI Phantom 2 w/ Zenmuse H3-3D Gimbal Includes all upgraded Parts in a Phantom 2 with Gimbal Bundle. Perfect if you don’t already have a Phantom or you don’t want to mess with installing all the parts yourself.   Upgraded Phantom 2 Remote Control: Left Dial: Turning the dial to the right will move the camera will upwards. Turning the dial to the left will point the camera downwards. If the dial is left alone the camera will stay positioned in last position. Built-In LiPo Battery: The remote control includes a 2000mAh rechargeable LiPo battery. The built in LED indicators on the front of the remote allow you to monitor the current battery voltage level similar to the LED indicators on the Phantom 2 itself. Charging the Remote Control: The new remote will be charged through the included micro-USB cable. The LED indicators will glow solid red while charging is in progress. The LED indicators turn solid green upon full charge. Throttle Lock: Allows the throttle stick to temporarily lock in place when put into maximum descent mode. The throttle stick will lock into place and the aircraft will descend steadily. Raise the throttle stick from the bottom position to release the throttle lock. Using this feature will assure quickest descent possible. We recommend flying forwards or sideways while descending to avoid descending in your own propwash. Trainer Port: This will allow you to connect the remote control to a computer via the trainer port to run a simulation application to practice your flying skills. If you own a DJI Phantom 2 with Zenmuse Gimbal H3-2D or H3-3D this is the remote you need. If you own a DJI Phantom 2 Vision or Vision+ this is the remote you need.   Upgraded 9450 Propellers: A set of 2 propellers. One clockwise (CW) propeller and one counter-clockwise (CCW) propeller. These new props use a second generation airfoil design with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) from the DHI Propulsion Lab. The new 9450 therefore provides extra thrust and does this while improving power efficiency....

DJI Phantom 2 Upgraded version leaked w/ Update

Update: DJI has posted the upgraded DJI Phantom 2 available for purchase. Below the links for the the Bundle and individual items. Upgraded DJI Phantom 2 with Zenmuse H3-3D Gimbal (Includes upgraded Remote, Motors, ESC’s, Compass) Upgraded DJI Phantom 2 Remote Control/Transmitter (2.4GHz version for normal non-Vision Phantom 2) Upgraded DJI Phantom 2 Vision/Vision+ Remote Control (5.8GHz version for all Vision models) Upgraded Thrust Boosted Propellers (for all DJI Phantom 2 models)   Just a few days ago we reported the leaked DJI Phantom 3 Triumph app screenshots that were found. Head over here to view the DJI Phantom 3 Triumph leak. Now there has been another leak, one with a bit more credibility as DJI dealers/partners are receiving information on an upcoming upgraded DJI Phantom 2. What is getting upgraded in this DJI Phantom 2 Upgraded Version? Remote Control or Transmitter (Tx) now includes a new dial for controlling the X1 Axis for camera & gimbal movement, built in lithium-polymer battery with battery indicator and trainer port. The trainer port will allow you to hook up the Tx to a computer and fly some sort of DJI Simulator. I’m still hopeful that you can also connect one remote control to another and allow someone to take over control. The included battery will be a 2000mAh LiPo and you will be able to view the battery level on the front of the remote with the familiar 4 led’s similar to the DJI smart battery. The remote will feature a new throttle stick with lock mode for descending, allowing you to descend as quickly as possible since the throttle stick will remained locked in down position temporarily. The motors will be replaced with newer 2312 motors featuring lighter weight, more power and less vibration. DJI achieves this through a new stator winding structure which increases slot wire embedding degree and improves heat dissipation. When used with the new 4.5″ pitch propellers can provide an extra 200g of thrust per axis or motor. It is claimed that battery life isn’t degraded when used with new ESC and new motors. The propellers have a higher pitch and are tuned for even less vibrations through dynamic balancing. The compass has been redesigned to be smaller and more accurate. Fixing and recalibrating broken X1 Channel on DJI Phantom 2

Fixing and recalibrating broken X1 Channel on DJI Phantom 2

When I first got my DJI Phantom 2 with the H3-2D Gimbal everything worked fine at first, then it seemed that intermittently the X1 channel wouldn’t calibrate right. I could sometimes get -1000 to 1000 movement but to get that movement I had to quickly move the lever and try to hold pressure on the base of the Camera movement lever to get it to move the whole range. This was frustrating, to say the least. At the first occurrence of this issue, i took the Remote Control apart to see if it was just the lever not making contact with the pot on the PCB Board. The pot is the little device that turns the movement of the lever into a signal which in turn moves the camera once received by the Phantom. The first time this happened I messed around enough to somehow get it to work again. I just had this same thing happen again and finally figured out how to fix it. Note: I know the RC Assistant is only used to calibrate the normal control channels and not the X1, but this, in my opinion, is what causes this fix to work!! Steps: Turn on the Remote Control and launch the RC Assistant Software (not the Phantom 2 software) Plug in the Remote Control with the supplied USB cable Calibrate the normal Control Channels. (after step 1 is complete read on) After you move the control levers in all directions don’t click Next yet. Move the X1 channel to both extremes a few times slowly. For this step, I had the remote taken apart and moved the pot (the little electrical box with a philips style yellow top) with a philips screwdriver, but you should be able to achieve the same with just moving the lever. Once again: I know that the X1 channel isn’t calibrated officially at this point but it needs to be moved at this point just like you would during a calibration. Click next and finish the calibration. Turn off the remote control and quit the RC Assistant Software. Unplug the remote control. Plug in the USB cable into the Phantom 2 quadcopter. Now start the Phantom 2 Config App (the one used to upgrade firmware for the actual Phantom 2 quadcopter). After turning on the Phantom 2 plug it into the computer. Calibrate the remote control again. Calibrate the X1 channel. Now you should have a working X1 channel again!! These are the steps I followed to get my X1 channel working again, I hope they worked for you as well. I would have had to send my DJI...
