Update 5: Further leaked image of the DJI Mavic 2 Pro!
The leaks are getting better and better. Here you can see the first real leaked photo of the much awaited and rumored DJI Mavic 2 Pro.
Update 4: Mavic 2 Pro and Mavic 2 Zoom are confirmed!
Well, i don’t know if it can get much more official than this. Agros in the UK publishes catalogs of their products..still. Of course such catalogs take a bit longer leadtime than an online store. Apparently they weren’t notified or the catalog couldn’t be delayed as the Release Event was delayed.

There will be two models. One called the Mavic 2 Zoom which looks like it has a camera similar in size to the current Mavic Pro. The Mavic 2 Pro, has a much larger camera and gimbal, and it houses a 1″ sensor! You can see in the top of the advert that the camera is a “Hasselblad camera”. DJI purchased a majority stake of the Swedish camera company in 2017. This might be the first collaboration with Hasselblad on a consumer/prosumer drone. In 2017 they released this 100MP behemoth of a drone, but that was just an M600 with a Hasselblad “aerial” camera.
Update 3: Mavic Enterprise images leaked
Further images of the new Mavic from DJI have surfaced. This time it’s not the Mavic 2 however but a Mavic Enterprise Edition.
Update 2: DJI pushes the launch of Mavic 2
We have just received word that DJI has delayed the originally planned July 18th “See the bigger picture” event. No new date has been set at the time of this writing.

A new DJI Mavic 2 (Pro 2) is coming! The ultimate of the DJI Mavic 2 Rumors, a confirmation of a new Release Event!
DJI sent out invitations to a media event for a July 18th event at 10am New York (EST) time.
The original DJI Mavic revolutionized the drone market with its release. Up until that point you had to carry a large phantom sized drone with you if you wanted decent videos and photos from the air. While we got used to constantly having an extra cooler box, errrm the Phantom 4 box as a piece of luggage in the car, the compact Mavic Platform changed that.
The DJI Mavic 2 rumors mill have been in high gear regarding this July 18th event. As we have seen many leaked images of a much anticipated Phantom 5 with its removable camera lenses, there is a small possibility that we are in fact getting a P5 instead of a Mavic 2.
Yet when one studies the image of the invitation there is an obvious theme presented.
“See the bigger picture” the invitation of the DJI drone release event reads. In the background you find an image that is made up of a “little big planet” style photograph. It also resembles an iris in a human eye.
This surely is a hint towards an increased sensor size of the DJI Mavic 2.

Redesigned 3 Axis Gimbal
Camera:
The individual pixels size will be comparable to the Phantom 4 Pro’s (also the V2’s). The increase in the sensor size from a 1/2.3” to the 1/1.7” sensor while keeping the total number of pixels at 12MP, will offer improved low-light sensitivity and reduce noise captured.
We don’t expect a mechanical shutter as this would make the gimbal even larger to carry the larger camera housing required.
Mavic 2 Drone
We expect the drone body to increase in size a little to accommodate the larger camera and gimbal. Recessing the gimbal as DJI has done in the Mavic Air would be a welcome change and would reduce the number of gimbals ripped off in a hard crash. We are still amazed by the resilience of the Mavic Air’s gimbal.
It’s no secret that owners of the Mavic Pro or the Phantom 4 Pro dreamed of a Phantom 4 Pro camera with the 1″ sensor in a drone as compact as the DJI Mavic Pro. Logically this would warrant a new release of the Mavic Pro Successor aptly named the DJI Mavic Pro II or Mavic Pro 2.
