DJI releases the 6K Zenmuse X7

It’s confirmed. The Zenmuse X7 cinema camera is the product being released at the DJI Reflections Event held today. Several leaked images are circulating the web, we have all the info for you below. Earlier last week we reported the teaser video DJI released. Find that video here: DJI Reflections Event Teaser. Pricing information will be available here: Zenmuse X7 Zenmuse X7 (The Zenmuse X7) Lenses The brand new Zenmuse X7 camera and gimbal is designed for professional filmmakers. There is no doubt about it. The Zenmuse X7 boasts up to 6K video recording at 30fps, a 35mm sensor and a compatibility with 4 DL-Mount lenses. The lenses supported: 16mm (built-in ND filter) 24mm (leaf shutter) 35mm (leaf shutter) and 50mm (leaf shutter) Comparison to the existing X5S The sensor size of the x7 allows an increased resolution and pixel size delivering higher quality images.   The X7 is the highest resolution camera in the DJI catalog, and shrinks the requirements in terms of aircraft when requiring such high-resolution footage. Where earlier you required a matrice or Spreading Wings platform you can now utilize drones such as the Inspire 2. The Zenmuse X7 integrates with CineCore 2.1, so currently it is only compatible with the Inspire 2. DJI promises future compatibility with other products. Can we say OSMO 2 anyone?! Specs: Super 35mm (23.5 x 15.7 mm) sensor incrased pixel size to 3.91 micrometers DL Lens Mount captures RAW video at up to 6K @30fps or 3.9K @ 59.94fps photos at up to 24MP (Raw DNG) up to 14 stops of dynamic range image processing for Cinema DNG/Apple ProRes in CineCore 2.1 3 Axis Stabilized Gimbal & Camera recording formats Cinema DNG Apple ProRes h.264 h.265 DNG & JPG for still images To make the Zenmuse X7 more stable and compact for aerial shooting DJI integrated a DL lens mount. This shortens the focal distance to only 16.84mm. The DL mount also reduces the size and weight of the camera while keeping the image cinema grade. Initially, the Zenmuse X7 will be compatible with four DL prime lenses. The maximum aperture will be f/2.8. The leaf shutter in the lenses (besides the 16mm) allow for shutter speeds in single shot mode of up to 1/1000s. These are designed to reduce or eliminate rolling shutter completely....

DJI product launch Oct 11th – DJI Reflections

Well, that came as a surprise. DJI just posted a teaser video for an Oct 11th Event. The video is available below. The teaser shows cinematic shots both from an aerial platform and a land-based system. This could point to a new Osmo 2, a brand new drone which features a camera which you can remove and mount on a stabilizing device such as an Osmo (think gopro Karma but good). We’re fairly certain this product is more in the prosumer if not professional space as the shots in the video are filled with really high-end shots, beautiful bokeh, what you would expect from a professional level camera. The end of the video shows a close-up of a camera lens. Perhaps the Hasselblad partnership has had an impact on a combined product between DJI and Hasselblad. UPDATE: The Zenmuse X7 is confirmed! Details to the Zenmuse X7 on our Zenmuse X7 release page DJI — Reflections — Oct 11, 2017 Watch this video on YouTube. For more check out the DJI Site here. (At the time of publishing this initial article there wasn’t anything to be seen on DJI’s site directly…Yet.)   Subscribe below to not miss out on leaks & rumors regarding this new DJI...

The lens also has been designed to reduce color aberration and distortion. The lens features 5 lens elements. 1/2.3″ Sensor A larger camera sensor than in an iPhone 7 allows you to capture stabilized video at 1080p and stills at 12MP. The large sensor allows for use of larger pixels which improve low light performance and color accuracy. The camera also allows you to take automatic panorama photos as well as ShallowFocus pictures. Stay tuned for further updates regarding the DJI Spark release! Update 7: Further leaked DJI Spark images leaked In the image below you can for the first time get a glimpse of what the remote control for the DJI Spark will look like. At first glance, it appears very similar to the remote control of the Mavic Pro. You can see that the built-in LCD screen has been left out, most likely for cost saving reasons. The normal smartphone holders appear to fold down just as they do on the Sparks bigger brothers remote control, the Mavic Pro. Additionally visible are three batteries with the new quad contact points for the rumored charging station. The battery on the left appears to have a fake shell surrounding a harder battery enclosure, this could of course point to a prototype version. (DJI Spark remote control and batteries leaked) Update 6: DJI Goggles are released The long awaited DJI Goggles are now available for limited pre-order. They are rumored to be compatible with the DJI Spark! Update 5: NAB Event didn’t release DJI Spark DJI just completed the Create your Legacy event in Las Vegas. What to expect at the Event: The email sent by DJI to selected few was headlined with the slogan “Discover the future of imagining technology”. Now that’s a pretty wide open ended statement. Will...

New DJI Inspire 2 Black leaked & other products

A new DJI Inspire 2 Black has been leaked! DJI is attending the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. They left us with the image below teasing with a new Inspire 2 Black. The conference starts on the 27th (next week), stay tuned for updates on this rumored Inspire 2 Black and other products!   Inspire 2 Pro Black One realistic possibility, based on the image above, is a new Inspire 2 Pro Black Edition. If we compare the Inspire 2 motor to the image above we see similarities.   (Inspire 2 vs leaked image of rumored Inspire 2 Black) Top and bottom motor cooling slots appear to be identical Status Indicator LED appears to be the same size without the gray dual colored finish Another Difference: The propeller doesn’t seem to feature a quick-release connection as featured on the Inspire 2 The Inspire 1 Black was released 4 months after the X5 camera was announced. This timeframe could fit for an Inspire 2 Black release. One could argue that the area just below the LED appears to be different, but this could just be a difference of the angle that the photographs were taken.   A new Matrice Drone? The change to the quick-release prop adapter is a larger difference and may be a reason that rumors of a new Matrice Platform could adopt the Inspire 2 style motors. The Matrice 100 features propellers similar to the ones in the leaked image. A new drone such as a new Matrice would be more exciting than just an Inspire 2 black but let’s see what will be announced.   A complete FPV Racer? DJI just posted a new video showcasing their FPV Racing technology “Snail“, the Takyon ESC’s and new racing propellers. Perhaps we will see a complete Drone being launched showcasing this new platform! DJI - Introducing the Snail and Takyon Racing Series Watch this video on YouTube.   Don’t forget the Mobile World Congress starts next week, sign up to our newsletter below to not miss out on any...
