Better way to charge DJI batteries

Posted by on 10:48 pm in Tools | 3 comments

Ever wonder how you could achieve the perfect storage voltage on your DJI battery? Here is a simple, cost-effective solution to charge your DJI batteries perfectly to storage voltage: Better Way to Charge Your DJI Batteries! [4K] Watch this video on YouTube. Note: Warning I have done my best to ensure there are no mistakes made on this page. Please use common sense and verify settings before testing this out. I always test the charge leads once I get them with my multimeter to ensure I am seeing the voltage that I expect. Sure the charger has some built-in safety features, but I want to make sure I’m seeing the expected voltage. This means that the pins are correct on the cable. The charger in the video is the Imax B6 V2 AC. It has a charge limit of 50W and a discharge limit of 5W. I picked up the Hota D6+ (not the D6 or D6pro, look for the important difference before buying) for my LiPo/LiHV crazed life, and it will charge up to 300W on AC and 700W on DC!!! It does require XT60 battery plugs so keep that in mind. The same rules apply as mentioned in the video. The dischargers mentioned were the ISDT FD-100 and ISDT FD-200. The 200 has Bluetooth so you can change the storage voltage setting for example. Here’s the settings you will need: Mavic 2 Pro & Zoom Chemistry: LiHV Number of cells: 4 (select 4S – 15.2V) Max Charge rate: 3.8A (you would need a charger that does 60Watt to charge at this rate) Charge Lead Links: Mavic 2 Pro & Zoom Charge Lead Phantom 4, Phantom 4 Adv & Pro & Pro+ Chemistry: LiHV Number of cells: 4 (select 4S – 15.2V) Max Charge rate: 5.8A (you would need a charger that does 90Watt to charge at this rate) Charge Lead Links: Phantom 4 Charge Lead Mavic Pro Chemistry: LiHV Number of cells: 3 (select 3S – 11.4V) Max Charge rate: 3.8A (achieved with a 50Watt charger!) Charge Lead Links: Mavic Pro Charge Lead Mavic Air Chemistry: LiHV Number of cells: 3 (select 3S – 11.4V) Max Charge rate: 2.4A (achieved with a 50Watt charger!) Charge Lead Link: Mavic Air Charge Lead Mavic Mini Chemistry: LiIon (Different!!) Number of cells: 2 LiIo (select 2S – 7.2V) Max Charge rate: 2.4A (achieved with a 50Watt charger!) Charge Lead Link: Cables are still coming to market, just not yet out at the time of writing Phantom 3 Pro, Adv, Std, 4K Chemistry: LiHV Number of cells: 4 (select 4S – 15.2V) Max Charge rate: 5.8A (you would need a charger that does 90Watt to charge at this rate) Charge Lead Links: Phantom 3 Charge Lead...

Remote ID – FAA Fail. Why it is so bad, and what we can do

The FAA published its Remote ID NPRM or Notice for Proposed Rulemaking. Essentially this is a document draft of the laws that the FAA wants to put into place currently. DJI launches the Mavic Mini!

    DJI launches the Mavic Mini!

We have been expecting the Mavic Mini for some time now. Our Mavic Mini Rumors & Leaks were spot on. DJI just announced this new sub 250-gram drone. Check out the Mavic Mini or Pre-Order Now See the new Mavic Mini or Pre-Order it here. It’s surprising, people ask me how the quickest way they can get their hands on a Mavic Mini after launch. The quickest way is to order it through DJI directly, as with past drone launches DJI has prioritized their own orders over third party sellers. DJI’s lightest drone or “FlyCam” The Mavic Mini is DJI’s lightest drone to date with a full 3-axis gimbal! Check out these images of the new drone:   There is a new single LED bar at the bottom rear end of the drone instead of separate LEDs on the legs as with the larger brother the Mavic 2 Pro.   The propellers screw directly onto the motors but don’t worry there is a screwdriver included. The standard package includes 2 spare props.   Here a closer look at the camera of the Mavic Mini. Note the camera is just off-center.   The contents of the Standalone Mavic Mini Kit:   The FlyMore Combo includes 3 batteries, the multibattery charger/powerbank adapter, the propeller cage, and of course the Mavic Mini drone as well as the remote control. For the price, the FlyMore Combo seems to be a no-brainer.     Please Support QuadcopterGuide If you’d like to stay up to date with all the latest drone/gimbal news, rumors, and reviews, then follow us on YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or sign up for our email newsletter. DJI Mavic Mini Pricing Details

The Mavic Mini is coming on October 30th. This we already knew… However, we now have pricing information on DJI’s latest drone. Mavic Mini Price The new drone or also “flycam” as DJI calls it will be available for $399 for just the Mavic Mini drone, it’s dedicated remote controller, one battery, one spare prop each direction and a USB cable. The Flymore combo for this drone will be $499! This will come with the above seen products. Just the 3 batteries alone make this a very attractive combo. Looks like the 18650 cells made the battery packs cheaper! Mavic Mini to feature 18650 Li-Ion batteries

Mavic Mini to feature 18650 Li-Ion batteries

Just recently we posted our exclusive DJI Mavic Mini leak. Perhaps the most fascinating thing about the leaked DJI Mavic Mini drone is its battery. We could be seeing a Mavic Mini 18650 battery being released with the drone. When you consider the unusual shape for the Mavic Mini’s battery compartment, it starts to make sense. In this article, we will detail what we believe to be the Mavic Mini 18650 battery. Be sure to read to the end to see the mocked Mavic Mini 18650 battery pack!   Mavic Mini 18650 battery slot photo Traditional LiPo (Lithium Polymer) drone batteries have featured rectangular battery packs as individual LiPo cells are flat and can be combined into larger packs by stacking individual cells. Take a look at the battery slot on the Mavic Mini below:   18650 battery in the Mavic Mini? Since the battery slot isn’t rectangular, but clearly features rounded edges, we could very well be seeing a 18650 Li-Ion powered Mavic Mini. What are 18650 batteries? 18650 battery initially just look like regular off the shelf AA batteries before you look closely. A closer look reveals that the 18650 battery is quite a bit larger   Mavic Mini Battery Dimensions Since the battery slot on the rumored Mavic Mini is rounded at the edges, it isn’t too far off to assume that we will see our first DJI drone powered by 18650 Li-Ion cells. The 18650 battery technology has progressed quite nicely over the years. I wouldn’t put it past DJI to use some higher-end 18650 cells in the Mavic Mini Analyzing the leaked image of the Mavic Mini battery compartment we can use the microSD slot as a reference in terms of how wide the battery slot is. A microSD card is 11mm in width. We have depicted that with the white rectangle just below the microSD card slot. Based on that measurement we can predict that the battery pack can be a max of 36mm at its widest point. A single 18650 cell is 18mm in diameter and 65mm or 6.5cm in length. So the Mavic Mini may very well be powered by 18650 cells. The only thing speaking against using 18650 cells is weight. An average 18650 cell weighs 45g. Two of them of course at least 90g plus plastic to make the battery pack and the connector. Now we have a 2S pack with at min. 90-100g. The 3s pack on a Spark weighs 90g…     You may wonder what a 2S Mavic Mini 18650 Pack may look like. Here is a very basic mockup of what a Mavic Mini battery may look like.   This story is developing please continue checking back. Check out the teaser page yourself here. #DJIFlyAsYouAre UPDATE 4: Mavic Mini Gimbal Comparison The first official DJI mavic mini product photos just leaked today. Here is a quick look at the gimbals from previous drones and Osmo Pocket. One gimbal sure looks very similar! Updated image below with gimbal from latest leak. Looking at the last image in the gimbal comparison above, it almost looks like there are two different gimbals on the mavic mini. In the first image on the left, it looks like the Osmo Pocket gimbal and camera. On the image on the right, however, it looks like the DJI Sparks gimbal has been flipped 180 degrees.   UPDATE 3: Dealer leaks official DJI Mavic Mini product photos The first official mavic mini product photos have been leaked. A Chinese dealer uploaded the mavic mini images to a product listing. We don’t learn too terribly much from these images, but a few things are curious. The first image shows the new DJI drone in it’s folded configuration. Note that the propellers do indeed screw straight into the top of the motor can. Note the bottom of the rear arm, this is definitely a mavic and no longer a Spark series drone, no LED panel on the bottom of the motor. It will probably feature LED cubes as found on the outside...
